Had a tough day? I have some good news.

Do you know there is a SCIENTIFICALLY PROVEN way to change your current reality from depressed, anxious, and/or stressed to one of ease, calm, and flow?

It’s called deep breathing and it only takes a few minutes.

This deep breathing causes the left and right hemispheres of your brain to sync.

A very special state of consciousness is created when both brain hemispheres are operating in synchronicity.

We refer to this as the Whole Brain State and when we achieve it, we dramatically influence our effectiveness, our ability to manifest, enter flow, learn new information, and be creative.

How does it work?

We all experience four distinct brain wave frequencies: Beta, Alpha, Theta, Delta, and lesser-known Gamma.

Each frequency, measured in cycles per second (Hz), represents a specific level of brain activity and
a unique state of consciousness.

•    Beta ( 12.5 + ): Beta brain waves occur while you are awake These waves are often loud, nagging, critical, and the opposite of the other three states.

The beta state is the left brain hemisphere dominant. This hemisphere is logical and relies on the outside for input. If you spend most of your time in higher beta activity, you will likely experience long-term problems. The brain will continuously dump unhealthy stress hormones into your system.

•    Alpha (7.5-12 Hz):  Alpha brain waves occur when the left brain hemisphere begins to be less dominant.  It is a state where you are relaxed, aware of your intuitive guidance, and you may feel creative and inspired.

The Alpha state is ideal for learning, reducing depression, and boosting creativity. You get to Alpha when you are meditating or daydreaming. It is where your best personal growth work is done, as the brain is highly suggestible in this state.

The closer you get to 7.5 Hz the more intuitive you are.

•    Theta (4-7.5 Hz): The Theta state occurs when the right brain hemisphere becomes more active. It is a state where you experience profound insight, intuition, spiritual connection, creativity, and one-ness.

The Theta state is one of euphoria and bliss.  It is the state of imagination, creativity, and intuition. It is not censored by the left-brain results in out-of-the-box problem-solving. Theta brain waves are what you have during deep meditation and light sleep.

•    Delta (0.5-4Hz): Delta brain waves are what you have when you are in deep, dreamless sleep or in very deep, transcendental meditation where awareness is completely detached.

The Alpha-Theta border

The Alpha-Theta border, from 7 to 8Hz, is the optimal range for visualization, mind programming, and using the creative power of your mind.

At this frequency of mind control, you are conscious of your surroundings but your body is in deep relaxation. It is the mental state in which you consciously create your reality! This is the best time to practice visualization. You can achieve this whole-brain state by meditating for 15 or more minutes.

You can ALSO change the state of your mind simply by breathing. Deep breathing increases the amount of theta waves, which are in the range of 4-7 Hz. In the theta state, you’re even more relaxed.

Deep breathing at a rate of six breaths per minute was found to induce relaxation and improve mental health by increasing alpha, theta, and delta brainwaves.

According to a recent study, brain alteration via breathing is a very real thing. (1)

The study made use of 16 participants whose stress levels were examined. The study used an electroencephalogram (EEG) to measure the effect of deep breathing on brain waves.

The breathing lasted four to six minutes with six breaths per minute and consisted of four seconds of inhaling with the diaphragm, two seconds holding the breath, and four seconds of exhaling.

After the 4-6 minutes of this simple breathing pattern, (inhale 4, hold 2, and exhale 4), the participants were more relaxed, less stressed, and their 2 hemispheres were in sync.
This has huge implications for learning and helping those with anxiety, depression, addiction, inattention, and narrow focus.

Just by changing your breathing pattern, you can become a more relaxed, more creative state and improve your chances of having profound insight.  We refer to this as the Whole Brain State and when we achieve it, we dramatically influence our effectiveness, our ability to manifest, enter flow, learn new information, and be creative.
Today, with social consciousness ever-changing, it is easy to get overwhelmed by day-to-day stress, and if we don’t take time to quiet our minds our physical, and mental selves suffer.

Since we are so busy, this 6 breath-a minute is a perfect activity when you need to get into a flow state, be creative, visualize, and learn new information and it takes minutes.
